Glitter Goddess: Queen of the Sunset Strip

Description

The decadence of the ‘70’s and the sordid underbelly of Hollywood! Llana Lloyd’s epic “Glitter Goddess: Queen of the Sunset Strip” informs brilliantly about the trials and tribulations of growing up in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s with a domineering lesbian mother.

As she grows older, we watch Llana blossom into a glitter rock ‘70’s scenester, driven by her drug addled worship of Alice Cooper. Her subtle metamorphosis from victim to super groupie gives an enlightening “hang onto yourself” kind of exhibitionism which glorifies the narcissistic ‘70’s. Angela Bowie, the queen of glam, garnished Llana with stardust as she moves in tune to her own electrifying nightclub music with “Romeo of Romance.” Rock icons become fascinated by the sexually ambiguous young Llana and she flaunts her experimental games. All true to life, powerful rock heroes assist with Llanas’s emotional rescue, giving her self-esteem, guidance, love and power enough to live life on her own terms.

Angela Bowie, the Queen of Glam Rock, shares her androgynous role-shattering liberation with Llana and unwittingly helps her find a cure for all of her pent up perplexities. Constructed from Super 8 home movie footage, cheesy (but effective) recreations and insightful snippets from the many talk shows Llana and her mom appeared on during the out-of-the-closet ‘80s, the film begins in 1952 with her birth – Film Threat Magazine
